DUNAMIS SEEDS OF DESTINY DEVOTIONAL FOR SUNDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2025
TOPIC: THE DANGERS OF OVER BUSY-NESS.
SCRIPTURE: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. MATTHEW 6:33.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There are people who are too busy, yet life is not easy for them.
Sometime ago, we were invited to pass by the business premises of a business tycoon and make some prayer declaration over the business.
When we got there, we saw people praying fervently between the hours of 12noon to 1:00pm. The man requested that I sit on his chair and make prophetic declarations over his business. Afterwards, he said to me, “This chair you are sitting on now, about two weeks ago, Bishop David Oyedepo sat on the same chair and declared the same thing you just declared now.” He further told me that it was their practice to shut down the business for prayers daily from 12noon to 1:00pm, and that those coordinating the prayer were part of his members of staff whose assignment in the office was purely spiritual. They were being paid salary for that spiritual engagement. As at the time we met him, about ten to fifteen years ago, they could make sales of about a hundred and fifty million Naira on some days. It should be more than that now.
Another businessman said to me that every Monday, he stays with God at the place of prayer for three hours. He would shut down every activity, no business, no phone calls within those hours to settle the week with God before stepping out. He is doing jobs in billions of naira.
Beloved, it is confirmed that your priority determines your prosperity.
There are people who are too busy, yet life is not easy for them. They are too busy to pray to God. It is important to note that over busy-ness is a major enemy of prayerfulness.
Over busy-ness which is an over congested life’s schedule is a schedule that programs God out of a person’s life. It is an attack on prayer life. Everything else is on the schedule of some people except God. Can the plane be disconnected from the control tower and make a successful flight? That is disaster.
Beloved, note the following:
1. Over-busyness causes God to cease being a priority in people’s lives (Matthew 6:33). You hear people say, “I have this to attend to, I have that to attend to; I have this meeting, I have that meeting.” And God is not part of the schedule.
2. It takes stillness, and not busyness, to make successful spiritual transactions (Genesis 32:26). No matter how busy you are, you must make out time for your Maker Psalm 46:10 says, Be still, and know that I am God…. So, there is something you will know about God, if you are still. There are life-transforming encounters you will have.
Remember this: There are people who are too busy, yet life is not easy for them.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Make out time for quality fellowship with God daily.
2. Examine your daily schedule and do away with activities that are not profitable.
3. Disengage time wasters from your life.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to spend quality time with You at the place of prayer. Deliver me from over busy-ness of life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
